Carine Karnouk, M.A., Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapy
Carine Karnouk is a trained psychotherapist who provides counseling services to individuals and groups struggling with psychosocial issues and mental illness. She has recently obtained her MA in Counseling Psychology from the American University in Cairo.
In her years as a Counselor-in-Training, Carine worked at the Behman Psychiatric Hospital, where she helped clients who were struggling with substance abuse. Subsequently, she joined the AUC clinic, which offers counseling services to students, faculty and staff.
Carine’s orientation is integrative. She merges various approaches depending on the client’s style and needs. Mostly, Karnouk facilitates psychotherapy through the use of the Person-Centered approach. The core of this approach is a focus on client strengths, potential and self-worth. Carine believes that this approach highlights the positive qualities of each and every unique individual, and emphasizes the constructive inborn capacities that humans embody.
Karnouk also believes in the importance of counseling individuals with an accepting attitude towards personal freedom of choice, as well as respects that each and every person has their own independent way of fulfilling their needs and achieving their goals. female viagra tablets online
Additionally, Carine also borrows techniques from other approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral therapy as an aid in identifying maladaptive thought patterns or behaviors that may be causing distress. Finally, it is important to note that Karnouk believes in the importance of integrating both the mind and the body.
For this reason, she also helps clients focus on the present through the use of various relaxation and breathing exercises to promote well-being and teach self-help strategies that may be used in times of distress.
