Find Your Balance

Find Your Balance

Date: Jun 17 2022
The balance session is a space to explore and play with gravity. We will search for the balances and imbalances within our bodies through working on healthy body alignment and structure. Our bodies are in constant play with the gravitational force that roots us to planet earth, in this class we will twist and play with this force by walking and bouncing on the slackline. We will be also discovering the role our joints play in coordinating and shuffling our weight on Rolabolas (balancing boards) and rolling barrels.
Noha TCE
Noha Khattab is a performing artist with a background in anthropology, clowning, circus pedagogy, and physical theatre. For over five years, Noha was part of Red Tomato — a social theatre and street clowning collective — as a performer, trainer, and researcher, and has participated in hundreds of performances in public spaces around Egypt, Tunisia and Ethiopia. She acquired her training as a clown through intensive workshops and touring with the french Clowns Without Borders. Noha pursued further studies in circus pedagogy from the Brussels Circus School, in Belgium, in 2017-18. She received her MA in Sociology and Anthropology from the American University in Cairo, in 2014. She is currently a full-time student at Meshkah, studying traditional Chinese martial arts, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taiji Philosophy, where she is also pursuing her personal research, and developing a curriculum on the possibilities of the body in and out of balance — inspired by her background in circus techniques, alignment, and playfulness, in contrast with the focus acquired through kung fu.
