Noha Khattab
Noha Khattab is a performing artist with a background in anthropology, clowning, circus pedagogy, and physical theatre. For over five years, Noha was part of Red Tomato — a social theatre and street clowning collective — as a performer, trainer and researcher, and has participated in hundreds of performances in public spaces around Egypt, Tunisia and Ethiopia. She acquired her training as a clown through intensive workshops and touring with the french Clowns Without Borders. Noha pursued further studies in circus pedagogy from the Brussels Circus School, in Belgium, in 2017-18. She received her MA in Sociology and Anthropology from the American University in Cairo, in 2014. She is currently a full-time student at Meshkah, studying traditional Chinese martial arts, Traditional Chinese Medecine and Taiji Philosophy, where she is also pursuing her personal research, and developing a curriculum on the possibilities of the body in and out of balance — inspired by her background in circus techniques, alignment, and playfulness, in contrast with the focus acquired through kung fu.
