Traditional Chinese Energetics and Internal Arts - with Taha Hassouna
In this introductory course, we will delve into the fundamental principles of ancient Chinese knowledge that encompasses healing and martial arts. By immersing ourselves in this method, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to tap into your vitality from a holistic perspective.
Our journey begins with an exploration of the theory behind traditional Chinese energetics. We will uncover the key concepts and principles that underpin this ancient wisdom, allowing you to grasp the fundamental aspects of energy flow and balance within the body.
Building upon this theoretical foundation, we will then delve into some of the practices of Medical Qi Gong and Taiji Quan. Through these dynamic disciplines, you will learn practical techniques to cultivate and harness your vital energy, promoting physical well-being, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

Balancing Breathwork & Somatic Shaking: Naturalizing Your Nervous System with Marcus Blacker
The current culture in which we live can cause our body and breath to fall into a state of disharmony and dysregulation. Fortunately, the body is very wise and will come back into balance when we create the conditions for healing to happen. This session will introduce two practices which can aid that process: Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) and Coherent Breathing.
TRE is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. The exercises safely activate a gentle and natural reflex mechanism of shaking or trembling that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/trembling mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.
If there’s one breathwork technique to learn and practice on a regular basis, Coherent Breathing is it. By breathing at a specific rate, known as the resonant frequency, this operates as a central conductor, bringing all of the other systems of the body into a state of coherence. When we add music and guided softening of areas of bodily tension, this style of breathing is a great way to achieve all of the benefits of meditation and more, without even trying.

Yoga Nidra: Where was peace before I found it? with Seba Khanna
A practice centered around the remembrance of stillness. When in spaces like this one, it becomes apparent that there is a peace that exists in nature that is always present. The human being is no exception. Through movement, breath and yoga nidra, we experience this grand return of the human mind to its nature as one of immense and profound peace. Relax, surrender and enjoy the mystery.

Get to know your Hosts
Mazhar Botanic Garden (MBG) is the first privately owned nonprofit botanical garden in Egypt, located in the Barageel district of the Giza governorate, 5km away from central Cairo. Mazhar Botanic Garden accommodates the highest level of biodiversity in the country, with a plant collection of 60.000 living specimens ranging from tropical plants and palms, flowering trees and vines, to conifers, cycads, cacti and
desert succulents. The garden displays 3,500 different plant species, distributed throughout 23 acres of currently cultivated garden space. A haven for vulnerable and endangered species, MBG is committed to its conservation efforts, focusing primarily on collecting and cultivating globally-rare plants which are classified as “threatened” by the IUCN1 (2021).
MBG adopts an open-door policy by sharing its knowledge, experience, and plant collection with fellow botanical gardens in the country, and also by donating seeds seedlings and cuttings from its newly acquired species on regular basis. MBG further contributes financially and logistically in effort to help restore Egypt is historical gardens which once stood as a proud representation of the country is rich botanical heritage.
