Breathwork to Support Fasting

Fasting during Ramadan can be a challenge, particularly for those of us who live busy lives, full of responsibilities that continue to require our attention. Removing food and drink from our daily intake during this time invites us into a deeper exploration of alternative sources of nourishment and energy, one of which is the air that we breathe.

Our breath is essential to maintain homeostasis and balance within the body. Beginning with breath awareness, we can identify those patterns of the body-mind which may be contributing to imbalances and habitual ways of thinking and doing, including when it comes to our relationship with food and drink.
With a deeper understanding of the interplay between our breathing and all of our other internal systems, including circulation, digestion, endocrine and nervous, we can use conscious breathing principles and techniques to help us to navigate more effectively through this month and the months and years that follow.
When we start to see breathing as an untapped resource, we will realise that by transforming this automatic physical process into a conscious purposeful activity, breathwork can help us to:

Supported with the knowledge and practices that Marcus will share with you during the session, this period of fasting can be viewed as an opportunity to explore how conscious breathing can be a source of self-awareness, self-regulation, self-nourishment and an anchor to feelings of motivation, inner peace and wholeness.

Beyond Ramadan, the increased embodiment brought about by breathwork should enable us to become more discerning about what foods we eat, to reduce the need to snack or overeat, and to relearn to trust the wisdom of our body regarding what is good for us.

Marcus Blacker

Marcus is an integrative coach and breathwork therapist with a passion for supporting clients in letting go of the layers of restriction and resistance that bind their breath and freedom of being. His embodied practice and presence combine the art and science of breathwork and coaching to create a powerful pathway to integration, with the breath acting as a bridge between the body, mind, emotions, relationships, and spirit. 

Marcus holds an Advanced Certificate in Coaching Practice and is a Certified Transformational Breath® Group Leader, a student of Dan Brulé’s Breath Mastery Fundamentals and Intensive courses and a member of the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF) Executive Support Team. He has more than 15 years of breathwork experience and has spent time at the Esalen Institute and attended the IBF’s Global Inspiration Conference in California, learning and sharing best practices and cutting-edge techniques with some of the leading breathwork practitioners around the world.
