An Introduction to Neurogenic Tremoring (TRE)
January 11 from 7 - 9 PM
Nūn Center, Zamalek
Neurogenic tremoring (also known as TRE) is the body’s natural way of releasing deep tension and restoring balance. It’s a gentle, involuntary shaking reflex that originates in the brainstem and spinal cord and can be safely reactivated through simple physical exercises and postural adjustments. Unlike pathological tremors, this shaking is not a sign of illness, but a built-in mechanism for self-regulation and recovery.
THE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE
Over time, this protective response can become chronic, showing up as pain, poor posture, misalignment, stiffness, anxiety, difficulty relaxing, and a sense of disconnection from ourselves.
What is Neurogenic Tremoring?
Neurogenic tremoring (also known as TRE) is the body’s natural way of releasing deep tension and restoring balance. It’s a gentle, involuntary shaking reflex that originates in the brainstem and spinal cord and can be safely reactivated through simple physical exercises and postural adjustments. Unlike pathological tremors, this shaking is not a sign of illness, but a built-in mechanism for self-regulation and recovery.
Many mammals in the wild instinctively shake after stressful events to discharge excess energy and return to balance. Children sometimes do this too, but as adults we often suppress the impulse, mistaking it for illness, weakness or loss of control. In reality, tremoring is an evolutionary inheritance—a natural pathway to calm, resilience, and integration.
How it Works
When activated, the tremors often begin in the hips, pelvis and legs and can gently spread along the spine and throughout the myofascia, unwinding chronic tension and soothing the body. By allowing these involuntary movements, stored stress energy is released, the nervous system down-regulates, and the body softens into ease.
Because the process arises from the autonomic nervous system—the same system that regulates digestion, circulation, and breathing—it requires no effort or conscious control. We simply create the right conditions, then your role is simply to relax, allow, and let your body’s innate intelligence guide the releasing and restorative process from the inside out.
Benefits
- Deep relaxation and release of myofascial tension
- Calming of the autonomic nervous system, reducing stress and anxiety
- Support for trauma recovery by helping the body complete stress cycles
- Improved sleep and rest
- Emotional integration and improved mood
- Greater resilience and ability to stay grounded in daily life
- Enhanced body awareness and self-regulation
- A profound sense of well-being, relaxation, clarity and connection
What to Expect
This workshop provides a safe and comfortable introduction to neurogenic tremoring. I will offer grounding and resourcing techniques to help you feel supported, then gently guide you step by step into the tremoring process. By going slowly, we re-establish trust in the body’s innate healing intelligence and ensure the experience is both easeful and sustainable.
With practice, you will be able to reawaken this natural resource on your own, giving you a powerful lifelong tool to release stress, restore balance, and reconnect with your natural resilience.
