Welcome to our exciting voyage
We are excited to bring you one of our most memorable journeys on the Nile, that for most is a childhood dream. A journey onboard Kemet, a luxury home-away-from-home traditional Nile sailing boat. A journey combining history, culture, and world-class yoga.
Our 5-nights / 6 days cruise starts at the legendary city of Luxor, the ancient capital city of “Thebes”, today a breathtaking open-air museum, all the way south to Aswan.
Along the way you would visit ancient sites and temples like Esna, Kom Ombo and Aswan.
In addition to practicing daily Ashtanga yoga with KPJAYI Certified practitioner/teacher PHILIPPA ASHER, activities while sailing include visiting some of the most spectacular sights in Egypt, morning treks, swimming, picnics, a donkey stroll through the sugar cane fields, BBQ’s and live music performances by local artists.
Retreat Description
This is a dream Ashtanga yoga and Nile cruise holiday for dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioners (and significant others!) who also love to embrace culture, see mind-blowing sights and have fun whilst doing so. It’s a wonderful opportunity to work with a very experienced and devoted KPJAYI Certified Ashtanga yoga teacher who shares the practice to all levels of practitioners from new to Advanced B Series, with joy, kindness and skill.

History and background
A Dahabeya is a traditional non-motorized Nile sailing boat. Originally built to carry celebrities and royal families, the Dahabeya was a luxury pleasure boat for the Nile.
Until the 1870s the Dahabeya was the common cruise boat for tourists to travel up and down the river Nile. The name means “golden one” alluding to the gold and Dongola decoration.
‘Kemet’ means “Black Land”. This is what the Ancient Egyptians called Egypt, due to the fertility of the soil around the Nile, which was very dark and rich. ‘Kemet’ endeavors to be an authentic unique signature of Egypt today, combining old shipbuilding, while maintaining the classic Dahabeya look & feel, while adding authentic Egyptian furniture with an infusion of modern style.
A fusion of old and new, modern artists, craftswomen & men, ship builders coming together collaboratively to create a unique take on Egypt.

Testimonials
Philippa teaches from the heart and cares deeply about the practice. When I started, it was unimaginable to me to practise without props, modifications, or in a yoga studio. Philippa encourages everyone patiently and with humour, to believe in the traditional method and in oneself. During her self-practice weeks and private classes, she has helped me to build and maintain a safe and manageable home practice, which I thoroughly enjoy. Leading by example, Philippa wants her students to experience the bliss of bringing the Ashtanga system into daily life – I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Nūn is a beacon of love, light and well-being in Zamalek, and Egypt. As soon as you enter and you are warmly greeted by the reception staff you instantly feel better and you start experiencing the lovely energy of the place. It’s like a pilgrimage. They have wonderful and very diverse classes, treatments, and therapists all providing sessions and workshops that exceed in the level of quality what you would get abroad. Lovely workshops with monthly programs. Nun is a one stop shop where you can find all what you need holistically to nurture your body and soul. Can’t recommend it enough! Can only say that I am addicted to that place. A must try if you wish to take care of yourself spiritually and physically.
Ramez Mershak, Cairo
It’s very rare to find teachers nowadays that limit the amount of students per class. Philippa gives attention to all regardless of where you are in the practice. An extremely attentive teacher with superpower X-ray eyes! Giggling and smiling is part of the environment in class, making me feel very much at ease when facing those difficult asanas. I am honoured to say Philippa has been my teacher for the past 5 years here in Egypt.
Chun Tang, Egypt
Nūn has been my safety net for so many years, It's existence allows me to be courageous and authentic in life as I know I have a place to go to for replenishment and balance "As long as Nūn is there I'll be fine". It is a very essential part of my life that provides whatever I need whether it is a certain kind of therapy or consultancy or a regular practice or even some physical therapy. I can always trust that it has the best and most qualified practitioners and that I'm always in good hands.
One of the hardest farewells leaving Cairo has been leaving Nūn and until this point I have not found a more serene, authentic, holistic and professional space. Cairo is blessed such a space exists.

Philippa IS an amazing teacher – she pushes you in the right way and supports you when needed and is amazingly patient. She gives just the right amount of help and support allowing you to test your own boundaries.
Alex Newton, UK
For me, nun is a one-stop-shop for wellness. It starts with the lovely ladies at the reception ensuring that everything is running smoothly and taking a genuine interest in the clients. I love hearing them chat with each and everyone, ensuring everyone is satisfied and suggesting services that can address their concerns.
The breadth and quality of services offered at Nun made me ‘a resident client’ because practically I have almost everything I need - massages, osteopathy, Chinese medicine, accupuncture, energy healing and much more.
The titular N, Nada Iskandar, personally warms my heart with her love to help others, her intuition and sharpness in depicting what’s happening beyond the surface and jumping so gracefully to be the listening ear and open heart that strives to be of assistance.
Fatma Ibrahim
I feel blessed to have Philippa Asher as my Ashtanga yoga teacher. She is born to teach, to share her knowledge with love. Her teaching is about quality and focuses on right, perfect alignment and in this way you never injure yourself. She always corrects you with a smiley face and positive energy and never gets angry or exhausted doing it. She loves to teach. She is an amazing, generous, motivational, inspirational, ecstatic teacher who knows the limit of her students and that’s incredible.
